WELCOME TO STAMFORD SPARTANS YOUTH CHEERLEADING!

The mission of Stamford Spartans Youth Cheerleading is to build a united, city-wide program that will teach the foundational techniques of cheerleading to prepare our athletes for high school. We will develop the athleticism of our participants in a safe and fun environment while instilling the principles of teamwork, sportsmanship and responsibility.

SAFETY

Spartan cheer teams will abide by the safety rules set forth by the cheer directors. Coaches will be provided with clinics and workshops dealing with correct skill execution, technique, and progressions. All skills taught and performed will be based on age and athletic readiness of the individuals. Proper skill progression will always be used.

With our focus on safety all of our coaches will also be CPR and First aid certified, and trained in concussion management.

 

REGISTRATION

Stamford Spartans Youth Cheer is open to participants in 4th - 8th grades for the fall of 2024.

Registration runs April 15th - July 1st.

Cost is $200 a participant.

Please make sure your athletes have cheer sneakers by mid August.

 

UNIFORMS

Uniforms will consist of uniform shell top/sleeves, skirts and warmups. Uniforms are the property of Stamford Spartans and will be passed out after full registration cost is received, and collected at the end of the season.

 

PRACTICES & GAMES

The Spartans season will begin in late August and run through November.

Practices will be held outside during the week. Times and locations will be announced after your team coach has been placed.

Squads will cheer for Stamford Spartans youth tackle football. The Spartans play in the Fairfield County Football League. The FCFL is a youth football league composed of 8 Member Organizations; Darien, Fairfield, New Canaan, Norwalk,  Ridgefield, Stamford, Westport and Wilton. Games are held on weekends, Saturdays or Sundays. Schedules will be available closer to season start.

 

GENERAL INFO

Teams are determined based on grade for the fall of 2024, and may be adjusted based on enrollment and/or availability of coaching staff.

All registration items including costs, medical paperwork and/or consent forms (if applicable) must be completed and handed in prior to receiving any items. All participants are expected to be respectful to all other athletes, parents, coaches, and referees at all practices and games- home or away. Guardians must be prompt in dropping off and picking up their children for practice and games. Participants are expected at all games and practices. Advance and open communication with your team coach is required if there is a conflict. Participants are encouraged to participate in fundraising events.

 

VOLUNTEERING & COACHING

Volunteers and Parent/Guardian involvement are important to the success of our program.

We are invested in helping you feel great about coaching this amazing sport even if you have no experience with cheerleading. Please consider sharing your time with this program and watch our kids grow as people and athletes!
